Thanks for your Question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I look forward to assisting you.

To confirm, you reset the IP in this order?

Click on Start->All Programs->Accessories, then right-click on Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator. Then type each of the command lines below, one line at a time, and press the Enter key each time:

netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh int ip reset netshlog.txt

Then restart the Laptop

Please let me know if you did or not as this order is important.

Thank you

I followed the instructions above but still "limited access" on my wireless.
Thanks Robert

I want to rule out any corruption in the registry or hard disk causing this problem.

Do the following please

Than click Start, type in Wireless Settings and press enter.

Right click on your wireless network and select remove.

Restart the computer

Download CC Cleaner (free) from here

CC Cleaner

(Click Download Latest Version on the top right)

Run it and let it scan and repair your registry.

Once done, restart the computer

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.

A black window will open.

Type in it

sfc /scannow

press enter and when it has completed, type in

chkdsk /f

Press enter.

It will complain the Volume is in use and to run on restart. Say YES and restart the computer

Connect to the wireless and Let me know the results please

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address:
Default Gateway: (is blank)
ok, do you have another computer on that network?

Or what is the Make and model of the Router?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I am at work and was loggin in to the guest network
Thanks Robert, what is the make and model of the router at home?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
2 wire is the router. We have it through AT&T I believe.
The router supports several laptops at home, mine is the only one with issues.

But do the following please

Click Start, Control Panel.

Click on View Network Status and Tasks.

Single click Change adapter settings on the left side of your screen.

Right click on your wireless adapter and choose properties to open up the properties window of this internet connection.

Click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) and then the Properties button.

Set the IP as

Set the DNS Servers as this

Click ok, give it 5 minutes and test.

If it still fails use

It did not work for either.
ok, this can be a permissions problem that I have seen occur.

Can you click Start, Computer.

Click C Drive.

Highlight all Files and folders and right click, properties.

Go to Security and give the group EVERYONE Full Control (it is only on this computer)

Let this run and when it completes, tell me if you can connect please.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
That did not work
Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX make sure all files on C drive are not read only.

Go to properties of all files and make sure to remove readonly on all please.

Then restart and test.

Let me know the results please

Thank you

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Almost all of the files are read only. Should I delete them?
No, make them not read only (so uncheck Read Only)

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
It did not resolve the issue
Ok, then it is either the Network Adapter or a system issue within Windows which cannot be repaired.

We are going to need to do a reinstalltion of Windows, to rule out this as the issue.

Once you have done this, if you continue to have the issue, then you will know it is the adapter that has faulted.

Are you able to do the reinstall?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I will have to try it when I get home
ok, once you have done it Robert it should then just work.

There is no special setup needed. If it continues to fail, you are going to need a wifi adapter.

This one for $10 is very small and works no problem.

This is in the even your warranty is not valid still.

But it is either Windows or the adapter, and you will know after the installation which.

And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
