Am using Acer Aspire S3-951, Win 7 (x64) and had to reinstall

Customer Question

Am using Acer Aspire S3-951, Win 7 (x64) and had to reinstall Windows as their updates weren't recognizing my version of windows as authetic. Did that (reinstalled windows) and since then Clear.fi won't work, MWP won't work, and can't view DVD's in my external player. Uninstalled DVD device driver, and rebooted to get new device driver installed, and same problem. Advise on how to get DVD to play on computer.

OK - tried first link - no joy....trying second link now.

Dr. Fix-It :

ok, let me know

Dr. Fix-It :

Have you reloaded clear fi from > http://www.acer.com/clearfi/download/ ?

Dr. Fix-It :

There also are some cloud apps @ https://www.cloud.acer.com/ops/downloads

Customer:

OMG - I'm watching a movie...some settings w/library on WMP were corrupted or something...is there any fix for the clear.fi? I prefer that, but will take WMP if that's all I can get.

Dr. Fix-It :

  1. In the Clear.fi program, click Settings and next Update.

  2. Click Yes to confirm and then Update Clear.fi to install the update.

Dr. Fix-It :

Here is a good video to follow as may need to re-add the computer to the clearfi network > http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tF_2HgbqN40

Customer:

OK I can't even open clear.fi....when I click on the link in Start, All Programs, etc., the icon opens on the Taskbar, but nothing else happens:

Customer:

This is a screen shot of my cursur on the icon on the Taskbar

Dr. Fix-It :

Hmm if the application is not responding at all, would go to control panel, remove / uninstall the Clear.fi software completely and then redownload and install anew.

Customer:

I've tried that but will again. Hmmmm having some issues uninstalling, but working on trying this again.

Dr. Fix-It :

If does not unistall, make sure the program is closed and right click on it from the taskbar and select close program

Dr. Fix-It :

Also may try the repair option if listed in the control panel programs list

Customer:

No that's not listed. I'm sort of feeling that I need to reboot to get this to stop and then re-uninstall. If it hangs, any suggestions, as I will loose you in the reboot.

Dr. Fix-It :

If still hangs can remove with other software....

Customer:

Remove like with what software?

Dr. Fix-It :

Malwarebytes.org has a progrma called File Assassin, just have to make sure you locate the file first by typing the file name clear.fi and then locating same file to eliminate from your computer > http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/fileassassin/

Dr. Fix-It :

Sorry I meant locating from the bottom left windows 7 search box to find the file

Dr. Fix-It :

Then run the File Assassin, select the clear.fi application to be removed from your computer..

Dr. Fix-It :

Please do give the reboot a try, I will switch this to a QA format so can reply....

Customer:

No joy, now there is no clear.fi.exe at all in the old location....no shortcut in the Start list either.

Expert:  Dr. Fix-It replied 4 years ago.

Hi Claire let me know if able to do the reinstall of the clear.fi program, also it appears you did not do a clean install but a system repair of the Windows 7 program / registration update... so may still have the option to restore your computer to a previous date when the clear.fi was operating properly. Please see > http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

`

Hope that helps, it was a please working with you this evening and let me know how it goes :)
