Yes, you can always use it to recover the Windows password, despite any issues with the machine itself

It will allow you to log in to Windows with the right password
Once you do that, you can try and renew/release the IP from the command line.
how can I reinstall windows if I don't care about the data on the machine. There is nothing but my grandson's school work from 2 years ago.

Customer service would be best to answer that question because I am not sure which option you selected when you entered the site. You can call them at 1.888.862.9212 to cancel the membership if you did sign up for it.
