Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.

With the phone OFF, press and hold VOLUME UP, MENU, and POWER for at least 10 seconds. YOu should get a screen where you can reset.

I've tried the steps suggested prior to asking how to get the phone off the start up screen. Tried again. Still no success. Any further suggestions?

Just tried pressing the only buttons available to me as it is a touch screen phone. Phone is off. Pressed volume up and volume down and power button simultaneously and I got a blank pink screen. Tried the way suggested first and still nothing beyond the Huawei symbol on a blank screen.

Approximately how old is the battery in this phone?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
One month. It's a new phone. Also have a new back up battery fully charged. It 2 was tried on the phone.

Sorry, but please swap for a new phone. The pink screen is some sort of firmware download page. Something appears defective with your phone.
