It is clear that your power supply unit(PSU) is faulty which is also called SMPS and you will have to replace your PSU and it will be completely fine

OK. So this is inside the computer, not the power cord/adapter then? Where would I obtain a new one - should I take the ThinkPad in?
Expert:  Computer Expert replied 5 years ago.
It is not the power cord or adapter

It is inside your Thinkpad and you can get it from a local computer shop and he will replace it for you
