Hi,

I am not sure what you are asking.

Please describe in more detail
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I needed to get a new modem which I was going to install/hook up; but one of the things they tell me to do is that the modem will need to detect my internet provider's settings. After that they say enter "user name and password" provided by the ISP.

I don't know what that is nor where to find that information

Who is your ISP?

Tell me what an ISP is? That's my problem since I don't know
Internet Service Provider...

Comcast, Time-Warner, etc. It is the company that services your internet/cable/etc

verizon
It is not the same as AOL.

If you do not know your Verizon username and password XXXXX you can use this link to recover your user name and reset your password.
