How do I format a write-protected cd-rw in windows 7 I was

Customer Question

How do I format a write-protected cd-rw in windows 7? I was creating a backup using Norton 360 and the computer crashed when it was on the 5th CD. Now I want to reuse the cd's, but some of them come up as write protected when I try to format. Problem is, I need free or very low-cost answers. I'm out of money.

Hi, and thanks for using

Please download and install the CDBurnerXP program:
click on "Download Now (4.8MB) " to download and install.

Then insert the cd-rw (rewritable cd) and open the CDBurnerXP program and select the Erase disc option and see if it can erase the disk.

Please let me know if there is still any issue later. Thank you.
