My mail has been working perfectly. I have made no changes. And when I woke up this morning I have found that I am unable to send emails?

i've changed my smtp port to 587 and get this error message
The host 'mail.cmobile.co.za' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

My mail has worked perfectly. I've changed no settings and no locations.
Yesterday afternoon I was sending and receiving mail perfectly, and yesterday evening when I tried to send a mail I received this error message

i think your firewall is blocking the port 25.

are you using norton ?

it seems it is blocking your 25th port.

can you start your computer in SAFE MODE ? (F8)

even in safe mode with networking i am unable to go online.
perhaps this has something to do with the fact that i am connecting via 3G through my USB?
is there another way we could go about this?

if you uninstall your AVG fully, can you reinstall it again?

probably avg is blocking your 25th port.

sounds reasonable. if i uninstall i can reinstall but then i'd have the same problem once it completes all its updates upon reinstallation. is there no way for me to keep my antivirus as it is, and instruct it to not block Port 25?

it must be a temporary problem.

probably AVG detected a threat and then disabled the outgoing connections fully to prevent further damage

can you uninstall your avg now fully. and then restart your computer. when you come back, please try to use your email program.

you will be able to send.

after doing this, please close your email program.

install AVG.

open your email program and try to send.

your avg should show you a confirmation box saying (xxxxx is trying to access .. etc)

do you see that confirmation box? you will need to ALLOW it
