Tech Specialist :

Hi Welcome to JustAnswer.com I am Tech Specialist and today, I will be trying my best to solve your issue.

Tech Specialist :

Which program is set to download and delete your mails?

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

I have not been able to find out which program it is.

Tech Specialist :

It should be something like Outlook, Outlook express etc.

Tech Specialist :

You should be knowing as you must had set that up, right?

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

I have not had Outlook or any thing like that open. I only use hotmail to send/receive messages.

Tech Specialist :

In that case, it should not download and delete your messages.

Tech Specialist :

If you are using hotmail via browser like Internet Explorer, nothing should happen unless you set your email in any of the softwares.

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

I have hotmail through my blackberry which is USCellular.

Tech Specialist :

Did you observed this behavior that your mails are getting deleted?

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

Not yet.

Tech Specialist :

In that case nothing to worry about.

Tech Specialist :

It will not happen.

Tech Specialist :

Unless you set up the mail in any email.

Tech Specialist :

I mean in any software

Tech Specialist :

In software like outlook, there is a setting called as "leave messages is server"

Tech Specialist :

If you disable that setting, these softwares downloads and delete the emails from your email server

Tech Specialist :

If you don't have any software setup, nothing to worry about.

Tech Specialist :

Hope this helps.

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

Not really. If Hotmail saw a problem, and I did not set my emails in any other software, it seems that there is a problem somewhere.

Tech Specialist :

Why do you think there is a problem when no mails are getting deleted?

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

Thanks for trying.

Tech Specialist :

If mails are not getting deleted, why do you think there is a problem?

Tech Specialist :

I don't understand.

Tech Specialist :

You're welcome.

Tech Specialist :

Also, check your BB for these settings.

Tech Specialist :

Mobile devices also have this setting to download and delete mails from mail server.

JACUSTOMER-qptwvcxj- :

Thanks anyway for your help. I don't know how to find the programs or settings. I probably will have to take it to a computer shop for service.

Tech Specialist :

The computer does not have any problems.

Tech Specialist :

If mails are getting deleted from server, check your blackberry.

Tech Specialist :

If mails are not getting deleted, nothing to worry about.

Hi - this is because of a recent setting that Hotmail has added, which allows you to pick whether another program can control POP/downloaded messages.

Please go here:

http://sn115w.snt115.mail.live.com/mail/RespectPopDeleteSettings.aspx?n=1667525903

and pick Do what my other program says-if it says to delete messages, then delete them.

and click Save. They will stop ending up in the separate POP folder.

Hope that helps; thanks.
