This answer was rated:

I have a Acer Aspire One Model KAV60. The screen went suddently black and I cannot restart the computer. I am told that this is a corrupt BIOS and I must download its most recent version and re-install it via a FAT-formatted USB key, etc, as shown on YouTube.

The Acer web site does not tell about what version of BIOS corresponds to my model number.

Can you help ?

Please try this:

1. Disconnect the computer from the wall charger.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press the power button several times.
4. Wait 5 minutes, and re-install the battery.
5. Charge for 10 minutes, then try to power on.
If it still doesn't work, take out the battery (leave the wall charger connected) and try to power it up again.

Did it power up?

It worked !

What about this BIOS stuff re-installation ? Is it worthwhile ?
No, that's a horrible idea.
It can make your machine broken for real, don't ever try it unless you have a REALLY good reason.
