Paul E :

Hi. Have you upgraded your Internet Explorer to IE9 or made some other changes lately ?

JACUSTOMER-o62woyyk- :

yes

Paul E :

Ok. If you can uninstall IE9 by going to Control Panel> Programs, select IE9 and uninstall.

JACUSTOMER-o62woyyk- :

what then?

Paul E :

What is your operating system ?

JACUSTOMER-o62woyyk- :

?? sorry dont know what you mean

Paul E :

oops sorry. Are you using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 ?

JACUSTOMER-o62woyyk- :

Windows 7

Paul E :

IE9 has only just been released and still has a few bugs which Microsoft are working on. If you uninstall IE9 for now and then upgrade at a later date. This should take you back to IE8

JACUSTOMER-o62woyyk- :

OK will try that now.....fingers crossed

Paul E :

Good luck - let me know

Tried to reinstall IE9. No luck. What now?
Expert:  Paul E replied 6 years ago.
This is not good! How inconvenient would it be to Recover your computer to factory default, saving all your data first of course. It will mean reinstalling any extra programs you use such as Office etc. ?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
VERY inconvenient! Daughters young boyfriend told me to do that. Thought there might be a viable alternative. Looks like its gonna be a long night

Sorry but I am out of ideas apart from that. I have searched through various forums etc. but there are very few ideas on how to get a solution. There is a possible program that MAY solve the problem called ComboFix at http://majorgeeks.com/Combofix_d6402.html

I haven't used it myself, but if you are going to do a full recovery anyway, might be worth a try?
