HP solution center keeps trying...
HP solution center keeps trying to install. I tried to remove/uninstall it, but it keeps saying to install disc ( which I don't have ) . Can this just be downloaded ? or isn't the solution center being recognized ? RO

I'm not even sure what it does, other than annoy me with the popup. Do I need it to use my 6180 printer?

It is not a necessity. It is basically a knowledge base-type application that is specific for your printer

It has the ability to interface directly with the printer, also, to help diagnose issues

But it is not a requirement

OK, to get rid of the prompt (this is a known issue)

Christopher Bessler :

a. Insert the HP Solution Center CD in the CD-ROM drive of the computer.


b. Now uninstall the existing HP Solution Center software from the Add/Remove Programs (assuming you have Windows XP as you have not mentioned it)


c. Reboot the computer


d. Keep the software CD inserted and install the software again


e. After the installation is complete, reboot the computer


f. Now take out the CD from the computer


g. Run the Solution Center once.

Apparently there is another known issue with older version of the solution center popping the message because it is looking for older versions of components like flash

Then scroll to a folder named 'RunOnce' and click on it once.

Look at each one, and see if you see anything that says or looks like HP solutions center

Some are necessary, some are not, and one of them is probably popping your HP solutions center error

That might be it. It tried to check the update, and pops the solutions center error.

But look at the others really hard. It might not be called HP

In order to unload them, you don't need to delete.

You can just double click on them and put a semi-colon in front of all the text in the string

First, do that with the HP updater

It's still there. I have to X out 7 times before it stops. It is so annoying I have been leaving my computer ( laptop ) on so I don't have to fight this damn thing.

5. From here you should not be getting the error at all anymore, but the solution center will be on your computer.

You can try deleting it, or just leave it be.

6. If you delete itm and the error comes back, you will have to reinstall it again using the process I just gave you

this is what I got after waiting for the down load ..."this update does not support any of the HP device drivers that you have on your pc. You do not need this software update"

second one.. first one is "broken" and another option was in Spanish..

Customer:

I do not have my printer connected, but that is a simple reminder and goes away when I click it. The printer works when connected. The other solution center popup just keeps coming back.

I think there is a strong possibility that the second download will install properly if the printer is connected and on. If it does nbot, there is only one option left.

It appears that I have missed you.

 

Here is the last possibility.

 

Call HP and request a CD be sent to you.

(NNN) NNN-NNNN end_of_the_skype_highlighting


You then need to provide them the serial number of your printer

And any registration info you might have given them when you purchased

 

 

a. Insert the HP Solution Center CD in the CD-ROM drive of the computer.

b. Now uninstall the existing HP Solution Center software from the Add/Remove Programs (assuming you have Windows XP as you have not mentioned it)

c. Reboot the computer

d. Keep the software CD inserted and install the software again

e. After the installation is complete, reboot the computer

f. Now take out the CD from the computer

g. Run the Solution Center once.

I am SO PISSED at this... I have one more question... I have a Glock19, and a .357 magnum...which one should I use on this laptop. Also- how can I get word to SOMEONE at HP to inform them I will NEVER buy another HP product, and will tell everyone I know to not buy. Thanks for you time. Sorry we can't fix this mess.
