Lately, everytime a scan strarts...
Lately, everytime a scan strarts running it immediatly stops with the message "Scan stopped by user" even though I have not stopped the scan. If I remove and reinstall I can get a full scan to run. I can try again as soon as it is complete and I get the "Scan Stopped..." message.

Which security program are you referring to? Is it Norton?

Okay ...had you removed Norton using the Control Panel earlier, or using the Removal Tool?

Okay ...first off, please carry out a clean uninstall of Norton in your system by downloading the Norton Removal Tool, using the following link:
http://tinyurl.com/y7qe88

Done that, run the tool to look for and remove any traces of Norton still present in your system, restart and reinstall the program, and check if this resolves the issue with the program all right.

THIS DID NOT WORK!!! I fully unistalled using the tool, the tool restarted my computer. I reinstalled my Norton, ran a full scan, (just as I had before). Started a new scan to see if it would work again. IT DIDN'T. I GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AS BEFORE I PAID YOU!!!

No problem; what's the version of your Norton product? Also, how did you reinstall the program? Using a disc?

I have a Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition disk that I used to reinstall. It is an old version with a Copyright of 2000

Yes. I frequently install updates.

Okay ..first off, I would strongly advise you to update your security program, since this being almost 10 years old, is not officially supported by Symantec now.

Said that, please carry out the registry fix (not the TEMP fix) detailed in the following support article:
