my sound doesnt work. It did before I moved and my puter didnt get banged around. I have tried what I know to do but nothing worked. I think its a driver issue. I downloaded one but dont know how to install it

Can you tell me the exact model Dell this laptop is? If you are not sure check on the bottom of the laptop for a sticker with this information.

 

I just need to know the exact model so I can be sure the correct driver is installed.

At the back of your PC where your speaker cable is plugged in there will be 3 jacks, please can you tell me which color jack your speakers are plugged into please?

Restart your computer and keep pressing F8 until a menu appears.

 

Choose "last known good configuration" and follow the process

 

Sound should then be restored, if not please let me know.

Is this a Desktop Computer?

I dont think you specified the model Number either..

You said you moved though..

I dont think anyone has paid attention to this fact..

I think.. That this is a internal card or wires problem..

meaning that when you moved.. either the speaker wire isnt hooked into the appropriate port..

Or the internal sound card may have slipped out of place during the move..

To fix these issues..

Verify that your speaker cord is plugged into your headphone port.. Its small, but should have a small picture of headphones on it..

Next.. i want you to open the computer.. and if it has an internal sound card.. remove it, and reinsert it..

Do this with all power and power cords removed from the computer..

Click on Start-----Control Panel-----System-----Device Manager-----Sound, Video, and Game devices-----right click on your sound device and open up properties.

 

Check to make sure the device is working properly and that the device is enabled in the drop down box.
