THIS IS A 1ST TIME PROBLEM /ERROR I AM RECEIVING IN MY MICRSOFT OUTLOOK WHEN I TRY TO DELETER AN UNWANTED E-MAIL:

ERROR:THE MESSAGING INTERFACE HAS RETURNED AN UNKNOWN ERROR. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, RESTART OUTLOOK.

I HAVE REASTARTED OUTLOOK & MY COMPUTER TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT NOW & AM STILL GETTING THAT ERROR MESSAGE. MY INBOX IS FILLING UP FAST & IS GETTING VERY DIFFICULT TO MANGE. PLEASE HELP!!!

Okay ..please carry out the following steps to create a new profile in Outlook:

  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
  2. Click Switch to Classic View, and then click the Mail icon.
  3. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click the Show Profiles button.
  4. On the General tab, click to select the Prompt for a profile to be used check box.
  5. Click Add.
  6. In the Profile Name box, type a descriptive name for the new profile, and then click OK.
  7. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  8. Select the appropriate server type for your new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  9. Fill in the appropriate information as prompted, and then click Next and Finish as needed.
  10. Click OK.

Let me know if you can delete the emails all right now.

set up the new e-mail acct as directed but still cannot delete e-mails from inbox 8-(

yes, i set it as the new default. And when it didn't work I switched the default to the other acct & then tried again w/no success.

ABOUT 1 HR AGO. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED.

Okay ..before troubleshooting any further, please go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore, then restore your computer back to a time and date when Outlook was working fine.

Done that, restart and check if this does the trick ...keep me posted.

RESTORED SYSTEM ALL THE WAY BACK TO LAST THURSDAY, BUT THAT STILL DIDN'T WORK.
