it gives various ways to fix this problem but I'm not sure what they are talking about...I think I did figure out I have windows XP....as you can tell....I RREALLY don't know much about computers...I just send and receive mail and play games

It would, thank you :)

I have an easy and simple solution for you - use AOL's webmail. This way you will have access to your mail from anywhere, and will never have problems because you will be working on their server.
Run Internet Explorer, go to mail.aol.com and login with your AOL username and password.

You can do the same on this window you are using right now. On the top, there is an address bar. Type there: mail.aol.com

I forgot my password XXXXX online at least an hour and got nowhere...they say, they never heard of schweffermann...now come on...how many can there be? I got frustrated and quit. Now what.....if they ask me one more time...my mothers maiden name...i will scream...

Call them at 1.800.827.6364
Keep hitting 0 until you get an operator, and request a password XXXXX They will expect you to know the credit card info used to pay for the account.
