Hi,

Are you trying to open an attachment?

Ask Your Own Computer Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago
yes
Tech Support Specialist: Ansh P., Computer Systems Analyst replied 8 years ago

Instead of opening it from the mail itself,

right click on it and choose save > save it to your desktop > Once saved, go to desktop and double click on it to open it.

Let me know, how it goes.

I can save it and open with other programs. When I try to open it straight from the box after it downloads it tries to use Adobe reader for everthing instead of using a picture program to open JPG files
Tech Support Specialist: Ansh P., Computer Systems Analyst replied 8 years ago
What type of attachment is it, like PDF, DOC etc?
Ask Your Own Computer Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago
every type of attachment we try to open Adobe tryes to open it.
If it uses adobe than sometimes adobe can open it.
We have tried uninstalling and getting the newest version of adobe reader that didn't help.
Tech Support Specialist: Ansh P., Computer Systems Analyst replied 8 years ago

Download and install revo uninstaller: http://tinyurl.com/ydjdzrn

Use it to completely uninstall Adobe. While uninstalling using Revo, be sure to delete all the registry keys when it prompts to.

After uninstalling it, try opening the attachments except PDFs. Let me know, what happens.

Ok I did that then reinstalled Adobe and tried to open a doc. File
It gave me this error
Adobe REader could not open GENERIC%20(5)[1].doc' because it is eitther not a supported file of because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)

If I save this file I can open it with word. but why does adobe try to open it right off the bat?
Tech Support Specialist: Ansh P., Computer Systems Analyst replied 8 years ago
Don't reinstall Adobe. Uninstall it and try to open the doc attachment.

Hi John, Thank you for your expertise and, more important, for your kindness because they make me, almost, look forward to my next computer problem. After the next problem comes, I'll be delighted to correspond again with you. I'm told that I excel at programing. But system administration has never been one of my talents. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me. God bless, Bill
