When I try to open hyperlinks on websites or in emails I frequently get the following pop-up:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
• Internet connectivity has been lost.
• The website is temporarily unavailable.
• The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
• The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
• There might be a typing error in the address.
• If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
For offline users
You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds
1. Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
1. Click T

install it and check your issue

So basically the issue is you can't open links from your email.

 

Do this:

Open Internet Explorer >

Click on Tools >

Click Internet Options >

Click on Programs Tab >

Click on Make Default Button >

Click Apply >

Click Ok.

 

If that does not works:

 

Open Internet Explorer >

Click on Tools >

Click Internet Options >

Click on Advanced Tab >

Click on Reset >

Click on Reset again >

Click Apply >

Click Ok.

 

Now try to open links from mail.

 

If that does not works, download and install firefox browser from this link: http://firefox.com/

 

After installing Firefox, try opening the mail.

 

Let me know, if that works.

To fix IE8, follow the below steps:

 

Do this:

Open Internet Explorer >

Click on Tools >

Click Internet Options >

Click Apply >

Click Ok.

 

If that does not works:

Click on Tools >

Click Internet Options >

Click on Advanced Tab >

Click Apply >

Click Ok.

 

Now try to open links from mail.

I need to shut everything down to reset...will try that.

I did NOT reset IE8 due to all the warnings...do you know how to fix this problem another way?

It says I will basically lose all my settings, etc...kind of a pain.

IE is my default...one of the first things I checked.

 

Try this website: www.usps.com then try to log-in

 

I get the error message when trying to enter that site...even have it listed as a "Trusted" site...

I installed Firefox and need to check some things out...I will tell you the the USPS website opened for me without issue.
