I can receive but not send email. The password XXXXX the incoming and outgoing servers are off by one capital letter. How can I change the password XXXXX the outgoing server?

hello sir,

thank you.

 

please open your thunderbird. go to TOOLS >> ACCOUNTS

 

when you are there, go to OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) section (at bottom)

 

and look at the right pane. you will see your account in the list. please select it, and press EDIT button.

 

under SECURITY AND AUTHENTICATION section, please check USE NAME AND PASSWORD XXXXX (put a tick)

 

also, please type your FULL email address into the username section (textbox)

 

press ok. press ok again.

 

try to send now. you will be able to send now.

this does not work - the password XXXXX XXXXX for outgoing and incoming servers somehow - I need to change the outgoing server password

still not working

when I look in saved passwords - I can see the passwords are differnent for the incoming and outgoing servers - does this matter

for bellsouth servers, outgoing and incoming must be SAME.

 

you told me you were able to receive your message. so your incoming server password XXXXX be the correct one.

 

can you please replace your outgoing server password XXXXX your incoming server password.

 

and try to send.

hello sir,

do you see a REMOVE ALL button?

 

if yes, please press that button one time, and remove all of your saved passwords.

 

after doing this, close your thunderbird. and open it again.

 

and try to send...

 

for the first time, it will ask you to enter your password. please enter your password XXXXX this time.

I hit remove all - they disappeared but when I try to send it does not ask me for a new password, i get the same error message
