Is this system the only thing on that internet connection
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
The modem is a 2wire modem/router combo, I have my desktop PC as a wired conncetion and a wireless pc connected in addition to the sansumg dvr
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
You don't actually need to set any pppoe info that is held in you router, it should be set for dhcp, however you must set up port forwarding in the router to expose the dvr to the internet for external viewing. The ports you need to forward should be in the manual for the samsung.

the the dvr options for networking are static, dhcp, pppoe, and its telling me to set it up with pppoe becuase i hjave dsl internet. then it tells me to go to http://w(last six digits of mac) to view it on a remote pc

Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
You have dsl however because you have a router you need it set to dhcp. Your dsl modem is handling your pppoe request.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
ok so how do i change my ports so they are the same?
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
You may not have to, but if you do and you are using a dsl modem router combo, you will need to call you dsl provider and tell them that you need to put your dvr in a "DMZ" so that the traffic requests get sent to it.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
you mean put my modem router into a DMZ? the DVR isnt through them
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
No, the dvr needs to be put into a dmz however because you have a combo router/modem which was issued by your isp, they will have to put the device in the dmz
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
ok im in dmz mode now anything else i should have to do?
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
Is the dvr in the dmz? If it is that answer is no.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
yeah i went into my network setting and put the dvr into DMZ mode, but i still cannot connect to the to view remotely or with the to view on my network
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
Did you manually configure the dvr to be .200 iff not it will have the ip of whatever the router assigned it
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
yeah i realized that was wrong and got the assigned ip from the router setup page but still doesnt connect
Expert:  Josh replied 7 years ago.
Then there is something miffed in the dvr unit, let me look into it and I will get back with you.
