My Outlook Express suddenly wont let me open emails to read.

My Outlook Express suddenly won't let me open emails to read. The preview pane has dissappeared. Emails will download from server ok. Error message says not enough memory if I try and double click to open in a seperate window. If I close OE I then can't open it again, just get error beep. Help!

Lets do this first. Microsoft has released an update that resolves several problems in Outlook Express. Download and run this ====> Fix It

Ok thanks. I downloaded Fix-it and installed. No noticable difference. Still can't open OE.

If the Microsoft Fix did not fix your issur, you can also try doing the following;


1- Click "Start"

2- Click on "Run"

3- The type "regsvr32 inetcomm.dll" (without the quote marks (") )

4- Click Ok

5- Restart computer

6- Try again

Still the same.

I've also noticed that if I load Internet Explorer and try entering, let's say, it asks me to confirm I want to save google_co_uk.htm (or Cancel) instead of loading the page into the browser. In other words it wants to save the html page as txt. If I confirm the save, it saves it as a txt file, if I cancel it closes. Could this be connected?

How mush RAM (Memory) do you have on your computer?

Yes it is OE 6.00
I have 2gig I think!
Can't actually check 'cos System Info isn't working.

2GB should be plenty of memory. I am running out of possible solutions.


Maybe we should have sarted with a Disc Cleanup, full spyware scan, and registry cleanup.


I am thinking malware because of your IE issue.


Worse case scenario, is that you computer will run faster and free of any malware, but this may also be the solution.


Disc Cleanup;


1- Click on "Start"

2- Click on "Programs"

3- Go to "Accesories" (At top)

4- Click on "System Tools"

5- Click and run "Disk Cleanup"


Afterwards, try these two products. They are free and I have been satisfied with their performance;

Malwarebytes (Scroll Down & Download Free Version)

Ok! Did all that.
Malwarebytes did find 4 worm infected files which were removed...
but still no change. Guess I'm going to have to look elswhere for the solution.
