Hello !!

Do you have vista or XP. Is this desktop / laptop . What is make model of computer.

If you are sure that your old keyboard is not damaged. Then there can be 2 problems.

1. The system drivers are corrupt
Do you have Windows installation disc. ?

2. There is a Malware in your computer.
Did you try removing malwares ?

Hi Andy,

I have desktop with Vista. It is a Gateway - GM5626...there was something wrong with the computer about 2 weeks ago. It was called something... "number one" so I downloaded a program from mircrosft and it said it cleaned it up...

Hello !!

Lets try this. Restart your computer and keep pressing F8 key upon startup. A boot menu will appear. Using your keyboard arrow keys select SAFE MODE with Networking and press Enter and let windows load in safe mode.

Please download these 2 free softwares :

Adaware (dont pay for Adaware Plus)

Malwarebyte (dont pay anything and download free version)

1. Install these three softwares.
2. Update them online - its free.
3. Scan your system. It will detect all bad softwares. Do what it recommends (delete/quarantine).

Restart your computer now. And see if problem persists.

Let me know how this goes.
