An IP address has a section of 4 numbers up to 3 digits
long. So the longest an IP address can be is 12 numbers
long.

For example. A commen subnet IP address is 255.255.255.0

Each section of the IP has a specific meaning. I can get more detailed if you would like.

Hope this helps.

Reply to Stephen's Post: 1 010 100 004 would this be a ip address?
Expert:  Stephen replied 11 years ago.
It is possible -- but generally IP addresses do not have a leading zero.

So, this would be the IP address :

1.10.100.4

However - 1.010.100.004 would not be a valid IP address.
