Thank you for the question. Can you please tell me which version of Excel you are using?

I am using Excel 2010

Thank you. This may be caused by having the high contrast setting enabled on your operating system. If you can tell me which operating system you are using I can provide details on how to check to see if this option is enabled or not.

How can I tell?

You should be able to tell by going to Start -> Run, or just Start and typing winver

It should tell you whether you're using Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, etc..

Windows 7 Ultimate Ver 6.1

Thanks. Please try the following:

1) Right-click an empty space on your desktop
2) Select "Personalize"
3) Select the "Windows 7 Basic" theme at the bottom of the list. This is a non-high contrast theme, which I suspect may be causing your problem. Once the theme is set, open Excel and see if the problem remains. Thanks again
