My Hp computer ia blocking a connection to mu modem. What would cause this?

My modem is issued by Comcast and I don't need a router.

I can get my desktop on computer but nothing else.

If it blocks wired (Ethernet) connections as well as WiFi/wireless connections, then you may have selected it as the wrong 'network type', doubtfully, when prompted by Windows to select a network type or classification for it.

Or, you could have a firewall that is blocking it - rather unusually - for some reason. Suspect this all the more *if* the HP computer formerly accessed it just fine. (Also, if it was previously accessing just fine, virus infection can cause such a loss of networking or internet capability. If you do not have a good firewall or do not have a good anti-virus suite, this could well be the case.)

Please tell me a bit more; I will advise and instruct you further.
