I'm reading a chat from 11.24.12 about DISH and Netgear router. The DISH Hopper has a problem with Netflix. It will logon to Netflix, but if I try to watch anything, it buffers so much that it's unusable. Watching Netflix through my blu-ray player in the same room has no problem. DISH says they are working on an upgrade to fix the problem but have no release date. Since this problem is similar to the one five years ago, I doubt that they are fixing the problem.

I just bought the Netgear router, so it was about three weeks ago.

Technician's Assistant: Have you connected to this Wi-Fi network from a laptop or desktop (either Mac or PC) in the past?

Yes

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Network Expert to know before I connect you?

Not that I know. I'm not very tech savvy.

The buffering problem will happen if your internet speed is slow.

What internet speed are you getting at your location?

Ok, then speed should not be an issue!

Are you using a wired or wireless connection?

How far is your router from the Dish box?

Wireless. About 40 feet. The blu-ray player in the same location has no problem.

There may be wireless interference from another device - try turning off any other wireless devices.

If that doesn't help, try restarting the wireless router in case there is a glitch with it.

If it still doesn't improve, try setting up the wireless network connection on the Dish box again.

Followed all of your instructions and tested Netflix. Does not work properly. According to the DISH box, the network is connected and at a good signal strength. Did you see in Kevin's chat that I referenced in the question that the problem may be "port forwarding"?
