I can't connect to my wireless provider, My laptop hasn't

Customer Question

I can't connect to my wireless provider
JA: Have you tested the connections by doing a ping utility test?
Customer: My laptop hasn't been turned on for over a month as I didn't have it with me
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: What is a ping test thing?
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I'm not savy that way I click on the internet icon and it says connections are available but then all it says is dialup and VPN I font know what that means. Usually all the different wifi providers popup and I click on mine
JA: Anything else you want the network expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No I don't think so

I am asking you "what happens" when you attempt to connect? Do you attempt to connect and are given an error? Do you see any wireless signals?

I can only assume that you are referring to the remote assistance offer. You can choose to ignore that offer, if you so choose.

Press the wireless toggle switch, which may be located on the side of the laptop or it may be one of the buttons that are in the top row of your keyboard. When you do that, are you able to see any wireless signals?
