My router, Lynksis, is connected to my bright house modum

My router, Lynksis, is connected to my bright house modum but I want to lock it so it's secured. Have tried and it takes me all the way to my password ***** it looks like it is going to secure but it bumps back to the beginning. I called Bright House if a tech could come to my house to connect that for me but they said they don't do that. Don't know what to do. I have tv, laptop and phone with brighthouse. Can you help me?

Customer: I just got a new laptop about a month and a half ago.
