New Brother HL-L2340DW will drop from wireless network if I

Customer Question

New Brother HL-L2340DW will drop from wireless network if I do not continuously ping it. It has an IP address all the time (can check from front panel). If I power cycle it it stays on network for a short time (if I am not pinging it), otherwise it goes to deep sleep (or sleep) and I cannot ping it anymore. If I power cycle while pinging, it stays on network (I can print to it) until I stop pinging. Then if I start pinging again a short while later it is gone.

Also make sure auto power off is turned off.

  1. Make sure that the front cover is closed and the power cord is plugged in.

  2. Press to turn on the machine and make sure only the Ready LED lights up.

  3. Press Go four (4) times to turn the function On or Off.

All LEDs blink twice when Auto Power Off Mode is turned on.

All LEDs blink once when Auto Power Off Mode is turned off.

Do you know if it has a static or dhcp IP address?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have already changed the sleep time to 50 minutes, does not affect the network disconnection. Auto power off has always been "off". I do know if it is static or not. It is not static and it is always the same IP address from DHCP. Also the IP address is NOT changing after power cycling so it is not a DHCP issue.

I am sending this printer back. It does not seem to be a normal problem.

Can we setup a remote session to troubleshoot further?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I gave it one last shot and did some more research. The answer was to disable APIPA. I have set the sleep time back to 1 minute and even in a deep sleep I am able to connect to the printer when needed, it is not losing its network connection now.

must be set to DHCP then and losing connection temporarily to DHCP server, good to hear its fixed.
