Hello, my name is ***** ***** I can assist you.

Please tell me in detain what you have accomplished so far.

Customer:

Not really sure cameras are set up but what I am trying to do is be able to view the cameras online I think the ports are forwarded but not sure on that either

Customer:

my router supposedly has built in port forwarding but still cant pull it up online

Customer:

can we do a screen share to see if you can make it happen

Customer:

I want to be able to view them on my phone and web browser

Customer:

hello

John :

First of all, can you see the cameras from a local computer?

Customer:

no

John :

What IP address did you set for the DVR?

John :

And what is the web port and video port?

Customer:

well not sure what to set the dvr up as static, dhcp , ppoe, I have tried all settings no results

John :

Okay, what is the ip address of a computer on your network?

John :

This can be found by typing ipconfig at a command prompt.

Customer:

default gateway ip 192.168.1.1

John :

And your IP address?

John :

What model is your router?

Customer:

my ip on the computer im on now is 192.168.1.3

Customer:

I have a desktop as well

John :

Okay, set your DVR to Static. Give it an address of 192.168.1.201 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway of 192.168.1.1

John :

Set the web port to 80 (or 8080) and the video port to 9000.

John :

What model is your router so I can give you instructions on setting it up properly?

Customer:

one sec

Customer:

actiontec mi424 rev I

Customer:

thats done

John :

Ok, did you use 80 or 8080 for the web port?

Customer:

8080

John :

From a browser, type http://192.168.1.201:8080 in the address bar. You should connect to your camera

Customer:

it tells me connection has timed out I did that from my desktop

John :

Please verify the settings on the DVR, save , and restart.

Customer:

ok I am in the camera admin screen but cant see the live feed

John :

Did you log in? Were you prompted for an ActiveX control or application install?

Customer:

log in

John :

Which browser are you using?

Customer:

ie

John :

Ok, right below the address bar there should have been a prompt for installing. Please refress you page and see if it appears.

Customer:

took me back to login screen

John :

Login and try to access a camera.

Customer:

I am in the admin area right now

Customer:

still blank

John :

What happens when you try to view a live feed from camera 1?

Customer:

blank screen

John :

Hmm, I am going to ask you to reset your browser. Pleas go to tools > Internet Options > Advanced and click the reset button. Then you will need to restart your browser. Then try to attach to camera again.

Customer:

ok clear history etc

John :

Reset everything...

Customer:

Still same results blank screen took me to login screen again lets make sure I reset my browser correctly I went to int. options and deleted history

John :

Internet options > Advanced tab (last tab) > Reset (button)

Customer:

now it took me to search page

Customer:

once I did that and typed in the ip address

Customer:

didn't take me to the admin area of the cameras just brought up bing search with the ip

John :

Put the http:// in front

John :

Try again please using http://192.168.1.201:8080

Customer:

ok asking me if I want to run the add on

Customer:

webpage wants to run the following addon DVRocx.ocx not available

John :

Try again.

Customer:

when I clicked on runn add on it took me to admin screen logged in no cam feed should I try https

John :

You can try.

Customer:

that did nothing Still have a blank screen I even tried resetting my browse again as well the add message that wants to ren says not available at the end of the message does that have anything to do with it

Customer:

I have a dyn dns will this work now that we have this part set up with the ip configured

John :

The not available bothers me a bit. Try rebooting the DVR and attaching to it again. Without installing this control, there will be no video.

John :

We still have to setup port forwarding, but local video first.

Customer:

I unplugged it from the back and plugged it back in do we have to re do the settings again

John :

No, they are saved in the DVR.

Customer:

I reset my ie explorer again and brought it back up and a pop up window says set up ie explorer use recommended security and compatability or dont use recommended settings which one of the should I choose

John :

Recommended is fine for now. Go look and see if you can find this file -C:\Windows\SysWOW64 is a file called HiDvrOcx.ocx. If yes, delete it and try to attach to the DVR again.

Customer:

I go to c drive and then what

John :

windows\

John :

syswow64\

Customer:

im in syswow now

John :

Look for and delete if found HiDVRocx

.ocx

Customer:

will it be a folder if it isnt a folder I dont see it

John :

No, just a file. Try and connect again.

Customer:

I see some with DVR on the name but no Hi

John :

What do you have?

John :

Are they OCX files?

Customer:

dvrocxrus.dll

Customer:

there are about 5 different ones

Customer:

ESN.dll

Customer:

fra.dll, ita,plk,

John :

I'm fixing to head home. I will be off line for about 75-90 minutes. Let me ponder this on the way home.

Customer:

ok how will i know u are back online

John :

Please do not reply back until you hear from me or another expert will pick up this ticket. Thanks, John

Customer:

ok

John :

You will get an email, or just keep an eye on this window.

John :

I am back.

John :

I will search around and see what we can do to get the ovx file to install.

Customer:

Ok i have it pulled up on ie explorer live cam feed now the port part correct

John :

You have video?

John :

Log into your router.

Customer:

Customer:

Customer:

in the router page

John :

Go to Port Forwarding.

To set up advanced port forwarding (custom ports):
1. Click the arrow next to “Application to forward…” and select Custom Ports
from the drop-down menu.

Enter the host name (from the drop-down list) or local
2. IP address of the
computer providing the service in the “Specify IP” text box. Note that only
one local network computer can be assigned to provide a specific service or
application.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Select the Internet protocol to be provided from the “Protocol” drop-down
list. Depending on the protocol selected, additional options appear in
the screen.
5. Select the connection with which this port forwarding rule will be active
from the “WAN Connection Type” drop-down list.
6. To select a port to forward communications to (this is optional), select
“Specify” from the “Forward to Port” drop-down list, then, in the text box
that appears, enter the port number. If no port is identified, select “Same as
Incoming Port.”
7. If this port will be active all the time, select “Always” from the “Schedule”
drop-down list. If the rule will only be active at certain times, select “User
Defined” and click Add. Then, add a schedule rule (for more details about
schedule rules, see the “Advanced Settings” chapter of this manual).
8. If source and destination ports need to be specified, select Specify from the
drop-down menu list (by clicking on the appropriate arrow), then entering
the port numbers.
9. Click Apply to save the changes. The new port forwarding rule appears in
the “Applied rules” table at the bottom of the screen.

John :

Basically, we want to forward from the "outside" port 80 (tcp and udp) to 192.168.1.201 and same with 9000.

Customer:

which ip do I enter the one on the dvr

instructions for you

Customer:

I am in the advanced section ok now when I specify an ip do I put the port number after the ip

Customer:

ok

John :

Is the block marked port #? I dont have that screen

John :

John :

John :
Customer:

there is a box that says source ports is this where i enter the 8080

John :

In both source and destination

Customer:
