My Netgear wifi adaptor on my spare pc keeps tripping out. (bought two weeks ago). I have a Netgear DGND3300v1 Dual Band router on my main pc). The most recent message I am getting, after uninstalling & reinstalling the router several times (9 times) over a few days is, "The network did not assign a network address to the computer". On each reinstallation I have been following the text & cannot understand what the message means. The adaptor worked well initially, except for tripping out every couple of days. Now I cannot get it to connect at all.

Thank you...

Let's start with software for the adapter before getting into router settings. Your disconnects could be caused by either end.

Check the version number of the driver for your adapter with these steps:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type devmgmt.msc then hit enter
  4. Click the + sign next to Network Adapters to expand them
  5. Right click your Netgear wireless adapter and select Properties
  6. Click the Driver tab

If the driver version number is XXXXX than the newest version, 5.10.79.30, download the newest software, then uninstall the software you currently have. Reinstall with the new software package and you shouldn't have any more connection problems.

Here are the download and uninstall instructions: Netgear Driver

If your version is already current, the problem is at the router. Can you verify the version number for me? At first you mentioned v1, then v2 and I want to be certain on this part.
