In order for Apple Screen Sharing to work (allowing you to be elsewhere and access your Mac, or to allow you to let someone else see your Mac console window with you), you're going to need to setup some port forwards on your router.


Here are the basic steps -- write back if you need detailed steps for any one of them:

  • Obtain your LAN IP address for your Mac
  • Login to your Router Configuration page & navigate to port forwarding (or server configuration) page
  • Create a forwarding rule to forward TCP ports 5900-5902 to your Mac's LAN IP address
  • Create another rule to also forward UDP port 4500 to your Mac (if you're using "Back to My Mac" service)

That's should do it!
