I have an iOmega eGo Portable Hard Drive for Mac, and have been attempting to backup my computer. I'm receiving a message that there's not enough space on the disk so wanted to purge.

I've been looking at the Info section on the drive which indicates only 36.67 GB remaining and 168.7 MB purgeable. The drive capacity is 319.94 GB. Am I able to wipe it clean?

I am very sorry about your issues. Few things first:

  1. Do you have important data on the drive that you want to keep?
  2. If you are trying to perform a full backup of your computer, it needs a lot of space and yes, you might need to wipe the drive clean and do the backup which means all previous backups if there are, will be removed and a new backup will be created.

No important data there! It's basically all on an iCloud too so want to purge the hard drive in order to have another backup.
