My desktop Pavilian will...

My desktop Pavilian will not open up to Windows 7 Home Premium! I ran the Diagnostic(F9key) and it showed an error code of BIOHD-8 AND TO CALL HP for support. Is my hard drive bad or can my computer be salvaged. It also showed the SMART SHORT SELFTEST as failed!!! Model No.:P6367C; Product No,:AY691;Serial No.:CNXOO1OVXN. Purchased 4/26/2010 (Costco).

It automatically did 191 updates -- the next day it automatically tried to undo everything -- after that PC would not open up to Windows 7

Unfortunately, it does sound you are having a hard drive failure. Smart is a monitoring feature of some hard drives in conjunction with computers, that detects failure signs. Sometimes the drive is failing and sometimes the smart is corrupt. Either way, if you have important data saved to the hard drive and don't have a backup, make sure you retrieve the data if/while still possible. I would then recommend replacing the hard drive and reloading the system.
