I have a 19" tachi TV that I would like to use as a monitor

Customer Question

I have a 19" Hitachi TV that I would like to use as a monitor while I transition from XP on my old computer to Win 8.5 on a new computer. Can you tell me what I need to do to get the TV recognized on either the XP or 8.5 machine?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your machine, and what operating system are you running?
Customer: I can hook the TV to either the XP machine or the Win 8.5.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: No troubleshooting, hooked the TV to the XP machine and just got a blank screen.
JA: The computer expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?
