I HAVE A 1966 FORD f250 WITH A 352 V8 and automatic

Customer Question
I HAVE A 1966...

I HAVE A 1966 FORD f250 WITH A 352 V8 and automatic transmission. The engine leaks oil out the rear main seal and I am considering an engine and transmission swap. Will a 1987 Ford 460 with E4OD transmission fit/work?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you ever replaced the gaskets? Maybe the hoses?

All gaskets, hoses and crankshaft bearings have been replaced and I've dumped Barsleak in it, too. Still leaks bad!

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F250 yourself? What have you tried so far?

Replaced the rear main seal and crankshaft bearings, new oil pump and oil pan gasket...still leaks bad. I did not do the work myself.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Well, I'm considering an engine replacement, but don't know what size, year would fit in a truck this old.

ok

yes, the 460 will fit. you most likely will need to make custom mounts.

is the engine fuel injected or carb???

I would not use the E4OD. it is not a reliable trans. I would use a C6.
