Customer Question

I have a 1973 dodge motorhome with a 360. It will start and run. It will drive but will randomly die while driving or sitting at idle or at higher rpm. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter. I know its a fuel problem of some sort but not sure what to do.

Be sure the Vacuum Advance at the Distributor is working
Remove the Distributor Cap
Remove the Vacuum Advance Vacuum Hose from the Intake Manifold or Carb
Apply vacuum to the hose & watch the Distributor Plate to see if it moves & vacuum holds
IF NOT, replace Vacuum Advance
Check for Vacuum Leaks on ALL Vacuum lines.
Rebuild or replace Carburator because the Fuel Float gets "saturated" with time & will not shut off Fuel at the Needle & Seat.
Smell oil for Fuel smell
IF there is Fuel smell, replace Fuel Pump
