90 mustang: 351 windsor low oil pressure,normal 60,now 25 psi.

Customer Question

351 windsor low oil pressure, normal 60,now 25 psi. Ford racing oil pump.Drag racing car. Probably 100 runs on engine. Always 65 psi on idle and about the same on Wot. Now it idles at 20 and goes up to maybe 40 psi, mobil 10w/30 oil. Noticed it on engine warmup, no unusual sounds.Started car after car had sat for two week layoff, noticed car had slight miss and engine was sluggish, looked at pressure after a test hit 25 psi very unusual. What is your thoughts

good afternoon my name is ***** ***** I will assist
I would drop the pan and check the mains and rod bearings. check all the clearances to be within specs. if there is too much clearance then you will have low oil pressure.
