1973 F100: column..freeway..she shifter engaging all gears…

Customer Question
I have a 1973 F100...
I have a 1973 F100 with a 240 six and 3 speed transmission using hurst floor shifter aster the original column wore out. Recently I had the origional transmission lock up at 65 mph on the freeway and replaced the 3 speed with another. I had it all buttoned up and what seemed to be she shifter engaging all gears. this after also replacing all of the driveline including new u joints. Went online to see how the shifter was to be adjusted and followed directons exactly. The trans operates in Rev or 2nd or 3rd...will not hardly move into 1st. Has resistance almost immediately off of nuetral. Is there a slider or something inside the transmission gone off that tranny? I figure that I will be pulling this transmission and it was a bitch putting in. Or did I just get a bad junkyard tranny and need to get another. This is a non cherry one family truck used as a farm truck.
