Need to get emissions test done !! Engine light on! Mechanic…

Customer Question
Need to get emissions...

Need to get emissions test done !! Engine light on! Mechanic self diagnosed O2 sensor and changed first one but realized it was the upstream one and replaced with new( not sure what brand) reset engine light and came back on within 20 km!! Today I took it to Chrysler dealership to run a scan Bank 1, Sensor 1 ,Code P0135 came up and said the sensor looked new but could be faulty, seems they don't like after market parts??( if it was, I think it may have been NGK?!) also the battery died after having the key on for 10 min so I replaced with new $197 battery and then he reset engine light but it came after 6 km but only on the 2 nod time starting it!! Any recommendations or trouble shooting you may be aware of ?? TIA Denis B

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you seen this code before? Have you tried a hard reset?

I'm sure the Chrysler dealership I was at today would have taught to do this especially knowing, seeing a new part was installed!! So I'm not sure if that was done or a simple reset!!?? How would I do that?? Right now I disconnected the battery been about 15 minutes now and will reconnect it soon

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Chrysler?

2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring, 3.5L 24-valve ,V6

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Pacifica yourself? What have you tried so far?

No, had a mechanic for both O2 sensors and then Chrysler dealer for scan which is what my mechanic changed prior to the scan

This would either mean oxygen sensor, wiring, or PCM. In that order. I would recommend replacing oxygen sensor again with a OEM part, if that doesn't help you need to check resistance between PCM and oxygen sensor. If resistance is high you need to replace/repair wiring, if resistance is good then replace the PCM. Here is a OEM sensor you can buy online to save money, let me know if you have questions. Thanks.

I AM VERY GLAD THAT I TOOK A CHANCE ON YOUR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. MY TRUCK RUNS LIKE A CLOCK. IT RUNS LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. NO LUNGING FORWARD, THE TURBO REACTS THE SECOND I STOMP ON THE GAS, AND IT HAS A LOT MORE POWER AND EVEN SOUNDS BETTER TO ME. IT SAVED ABOUT $500.00 BY DOING THE WORK MYSELF. I GIVE YOU ALL THE CREDIT FOR YOUR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, JUST FROM THE SYMPTONS I GAVE YOU OVER THE e MAIL. I WILL USE YOUR WEB SITE AGAIN AND REFER MY FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
