2006 STS Cadillac has transmission selector control bushing

2006 STS Cadillac has transmission selector control bushing and link bushing worn. The grommets are missing out of linkage and pins are riveted. The shifter is hare to shift into drive after reversing. The car is hard to shift into drive after reversing.
JA: Does the vehicle have a fuse that enables or disables the shifter?
Customer: Don't know; how would I tell?
JA: Are you fixing your STS yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Took it to a car dealer and they proposed replacement with new parts.d

Customer: A repair shop said the grommets had deteriorated and were missing out of the linkage and that it was a bad design because the pins are rivited.
