Customer Question

I just bought my daughter a 2008 pt cruiser and we noticed coolant leaking after we drove away. Next day it over heated and smoke was coming from hood by the coolant. Took to a mechanic who said the fan doesn't even work. Would replacing the fan fix these issues?

did he test the fan? with a outside power source to see if its good or bad?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No he didn't test it yet. We take it back to him Tuesday but was hoping for a cheap fix that my son could fix instead of paying a mechanic.

Its very possible a bad fan motor i would test it first it may be the fan relay...but we need to determine if the fan motor is good or not first

Ok great, thank you for your help! I was told could be water pump????

the water pump is a wear item but the will not cause the fan to not operate, the water pump is timing belt driven and a bit of a project
