I have a 2007 jeep compass. The electronic throttle control

Customer Question

I have a 2007 jeep compass. The electronic throttle control light and ESP lights are both on. This has happened before and we changed the throttle positioning sensor (the whole throttle pedal). This fixed the issue for 3 months and the exact same thing happened again. Replaced the part again but this didn't fix the problem. A mechanic has gone over the vehicle several times, no error codes are showing up. Any suggestions?

Getting the old lightening bolt symbol huh?

Has the mechanic checked the throttle position sensor? Any time we see one of these cars we replace the accelerator pedal assembly and the throttle position sensor at the same time and program them both to match one another. For some reason if you change them one at a time the problem will come back within a few months, but for the other sensor (whichever wasn't replaced).
