Auto

autos have a safety switch if the shifter is not in park, you cant turn over the engine.

have you tried pushing the shifter farther into park and start at the same time?

Expert:  Angel Martinez replied 8 months ago.

if that doesn't work the first step is to go to the starter and find the small wire, it gets 12 volts only when the key is in the start position. use a multi meter to check if you get the 12 volts, with an assistant.

No way I have

No tester or can read the starter

Expert:  Angel Martinez replied 8 months ago.

you can use a test light to achieve the same goal.

Don't have access to a test light

Expert:  Angel Martinez replied 8 months ago.

You can remove the relay, and its marked with pin numbers, 30-87-85-85.

find the holes that 30 and 87 go to and use a piece of wire to jump those terminal 30 - 87.

this will send power to the starter and the engine will turn over, the engine wont start, unless you have the ignition key at the on position.

if the engine turns over, the starter is fine. and your problem is most likly your igniton switch.

if it doesn't turn over, then you will need to check the starter relay fuse to make sure the relay is getting power. if the fuse is bad replace and test with relay installed, and turn the ignition key.
