Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If a scan tool won't communicate with the ABS module then the module is either down due to an internal failure or a loss of power or ground, or there may be a bus wiring issue with the ABS module; assuming it's actually equipped with ABS.

What is the problem you're trying to diagnose?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Abs and check engine light are on. No check engine light codes. Reads ERR.

If the engine light is on then there are codes in the PCM or the PCM isn't communicating with the instrument cluster.

What are you using to try to check for codes?
