My conv top will not go up or down and the message is

my conv top will not go up or down and the message is convertible top malfunction, also the trunk will not open unless I use the seems to be suck down but not locked
JA: Have you tried silicone spray or WD-40?
Customer: no where would I spray???
JA: What year is your Convertible?
Customer: 2010
JA: Are you fixing your Convertible yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have tried to push the up or down button but it only sounds like it is going to work but will not lock down or go up, neither will the trunk open
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: that is about all it worked just fine until I took it down

The first thing you will need to do is see what codes is has in the Power Top Module with a scantool.. Can you run by any parts store and have them read the codes free of charge and post the codes here so I can see what's going on?

I understand. Without the codes it's anyones guess as to what is wrong, it could be a bad switch, sensor, motor but you won't know until you get the codes..
