Customer Question

This morning my Chrysler(###) ###-####would not shift from drive to park. Then the car just shut down and locked up. I have changed the battery in the key holder and checked all the fuses. We have also tried to jump the car Any ideas?
JA: Does the battery look like it's leaking? And does it have a strong smell -- like sulfur?
Customer: No
JA: Are you fixing your 300 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I was trying to fix it before I had it towed
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That's it

Hello, my name is***** is a common issue on this car. It is caused by an issue with the shift lock solenoid in the shifter assembly. There is an access panel on the passenger side of the shifter that pops off and allows you to press the release to move the shifter. The solenoid would need to be replaced to fix this.

Is the solenoid hard to replace and how expensive is it?
Expert:  FIXITMAN replied 1 year ago.
The console has to come apart so it can be somewhat difficult. It typically costs about $60. Most shops charge about $200 parts and labor to replace it.
