what year is your jeep liberty ?

Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 1 year ago.

ASD "Automatic Shut Down relay" used on all EFI jeeps. 1990 to present.

the ASD is just a software / hardware in the ECU/PCM.

The PCM drops the ASD for many reasons, Any scan tool will show DTC errors for each failure cranking or running

0-Lost 12 volt DC electric power

  1. Sees the spark weak or dead
  2. Crank sensor bad. or misfiring. CKP
  3. Cam sensor bad, or misfiring , CMP.
  4. ASD input read back pin fails. (PCM commanded it but it refused to do its job) Shorted relay coil?
  5. Same ASD output read back. fails. PCM commanded it, but the relay is bad. dead output . (bad RELAY)
  6. Immobilizer active.

Have it scanned and see why the asd relay failing, which is basically built in the PCM.Please let me know

Thank You
