Chrysler PT Cruiser: Question: Chrysler 2010 PT Cruiser timing

Customer Question

Question: Chrysler 2010 PT Cruiser timing belt with water changed out, but the vehicle will not start. The mechanic advised that the belt was worn to a point of where it through the timing sequence off causing it to stall. They now want to pull the head for further investation. What do you think?

the engine in your PT is definitely NOT a freewheeling engine, meaning if the valve timing goes off say when a timing belt breaks or gets sloppy and slips, the valves will collide and bend, this will definitely require head removal and at the minimum a valve job with new valves, the service interval for the timing belt is 100k and it's actually a good idea to replace it early to prevent it from breaking or getting excessively worn
