BTW seems to quickly return to the gear it was in before slipping. Also it may slip to lower gear or I think maybe neutral on occasion. There is no pattern that I can detect or condition under which it occurs. May be days, weeks, then does it again. RH

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

Without more of a description I'm unsure exactly what you're symptoms are or whether there is actually a problem. Depending on your speed one or more downshifts while coasting may be correct operation, and either way when you coast it's going to unlock the torque converter which will lock again after you're back to a steady throttle angle, which you'll probably perceive as a shift. If no fault codes are setting then it's unlikely the trans is doing anything unintended.

CAn you describe exactly what it's doing, what gear, what speeds, etc?
